Fellowship Program
Dionisios Nicholas, Travis Manion Memorial Fellow 2008, volunteered as an assistant
Park Ranger at the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawai‘i.
The Mission Continues Fellowship Program is the flagship project of the The Mission Continues. Its mission is to place wounded and disabled veterans into volunteer positions in their communities. The goal is to provide service opportunities for wounded veterans who still have the desire to serve their country, but whose disabilities prevent them from continuing to serve in the military. The Mission Continues accomplishes this goal by awarding fellowships for volunteer work to veterans who have suffered severe or traumatic injuries in Iraq or Afghanistan. An average Fellowship covers 14 weeks, during which the fellow volunteers at a local charitable organization for 40 hours per week.
Each Mission Continues Fellow is awarded a monetary grant that enables the Fellow to offset cost-of-living expenses while he or she volunteers. This competitive Fellowship program allows wounded and disabled veterans with high leadership potential to continue their service within their communities. The Mission Continues does not offer charity; it offers a challenge.

Veterans Tributes

Students at Webster University, St. Louis, gave tribute to James Suh
and others following the September 11, 2001 tragic events.
The Mission Continues Veterans Tribute honors our fallen military men and women by empowering citizens to complete service projects on behalf of a service member who lost his or her life in the line of duty. Through the Veterans Tribute we are continuing our military members' mission of service here at home. Each Tribute is tailored to match the life and interests of each fallen veteran. For example, a group of college students in a small town in Pennsylvania may renovate a park in honor of a local Marine killed in Iraq. Or a group of business professionals in Missouri might organize a care package drive and send the package to the unit of a local fallen Army soldier.

Warriors in Service

Ash Woolson completed his service project in Columbus, OH.
Through our program Warriors in Service, The Mission Continues specifically targets active duty service members who were wounded or injured in the line of duty. While in the midst of their recovery, these "wounded warriors" organize and lead service projects with their fellow service members. Projects may be one-time endeavors or standing commitments with local charitable organizations. The spirit of service and the support of working in groups are especially familiar to military members. Through Warriors in Service projects, "wounded warriors" demonstrate the strengths, skills, and resilience of our military.
